Some captions are wrong and mis leading.
    1) picture 5 – It is not red fort. there is no red fort in trivandrum. this is the north side of the temple complex and called northern palace. it still looks more or less same.
    2) picture 12 – it is not chief engineer’s office. it is pmg office (post master general. college of Engineering (cet) started functioning here and later moved to the present campus 10 km away. after that it became pmg office. chief engineer office was and is still the old one called public office building the long curved opposite to the museum campus

Trivandrum had “the glory and freshness of a dream… but it is now … as it hath been of yore…”

The really beautiful part is that all these spots in Trivandrum now have more trees than they did all those years ago.

  9. I’ve stayed in all metros and major cities in India but Thiruvanandhapuram is by far the most cleanest and pedestrian friendly city in India and with the bonus of heritage buildings. This city may lack nightspots, good supermarkets and wine shops but it makes up with the old world charm and motivates me to leave behind my car and walk.

The charm of the old brick buildings and monuments are now covered and eclipsed by ugly concrete structures. The din and bustle of urbanization, and the cacophony of political demonstrations have destroyed the calm of Thiruvananthapuram. This is what I feel as an earlier resident of the town.
