IMD issues alert for Cyclone Ockhi; heavy rains, winds to hit Chennai, Lakshadweep
IMD has issued a cyclone warning for Lakshadweep islands. Areas in south Tamil Nadu and Kerala to get ‘heavy to very heavy’ rainfall.
IMD predicts power and communication line damage due to breaking of tree branches and uprooting of trees, and major damage to kutch houses and minor damage to pucca roads in these areas.
Tamil Nadu SDMA also tweeted photos of Kanyakumari administration clearing uprooted trees from major roads and about the area getting 34 mm (average) rainfall.
